MATLAB demonstrator

I worked as a lab demonstrator for undergrad MATLAB sessions. I was responsible of giving guidance and support to undergrad students from different engineering disciplines to solve tasks and problems during the session. I was also responsible of providing undergrad students with guidance and advisory support to build their own MATLAB projects, Monitoring and reporting their progress.

2015 - 2016

I was responsible for Maintaining and troubleshooting high voltage machines and
electrical panels. I was also responsible for Documenting all maintenance work and maintenance procedures conducted and recommended in the future to be read by the supervision team. As a part of my job, I was a team leader for over 10 electricians and technicians.

  •  Conducting a research on DAC/ADC impairments and DSP + machine learning-based solutions to compensate for their penalties in coherent optical transceivers.

  •  Building MATLAB models for coherent optical transceiver components and verify them using lab measurements.

  •  Using Python for lab automation and lab traces capturing.

  •  The capability of working with a variety of optical spectral analyzers such as Agilent 71450B, Finisar wave analyzer 1500S, Tektronix optical modulation analyzer and others.

  •  The capability of working with Socionext’s (Fujitsu previously) DAC/ADC kits.

  •  The capability of working with the CFP2 module made by Oclaro and other similar modules.

  •  Undertaken a variety of optical communication-related courses with excellent academic scores.

  • Conducted research on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or what’s known as discrete multitoned (DMT) for the next generation of passive optical networks (NG-PONs) based on MATLAB simulations.
